Giveaway: Murder In Mississippi by John Safran

WIN a copy of Murder in Mississippi
by John Safran
I thoroughly enjoyed Murder In Mississippi by John Safran and now you have the chance to enjoy it too.

John Safran is a fan of true crime, so for your chance to win, you'll need to comment below and tell us which crime you'd be interested in reading about.  This is a hypothetical question, so think about crimes that haven't been solved yet that you'd like to learn the truth about.

I'll start things off by sharing that I'd love to read a true crime book about the Beaumont children and learn their whereabouts.

I'd also like to read a true crime book about the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, if indeed there was a crime at the heart of the mysterious disappearance.

  1. I would like to know about the actual where abouts of the body of Samantha Knight. She was a young girls who disappeared in 1986 in NSW. A man has been charged with her murder and even told police where he claims to have buried her but when they dug up the area they did not discover her body....her mum thinks that he may have gone back at another time and moved it.
It was scary for me at the time hearing about her disappearance as I was only a young girl too.

  2. Thanks for your true crime entry Katrina, and for telling me about this crime from the 1980s. I hope they find her, I'm off to learn more about her and the case.

  3. Crime or not, I don't think we will ever know what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. It will go down in history as one of the most baffling aviation mysteries of all time.

Two unsolved crimes come immediately to mind: the Whitechapel murders - Jack the Ripper & the murder of the little beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey.

After all these years Jack the Ripper still fascinates. So many theories put forward, so many unlikely suspects, but the murders still remain unsolved. Gruesome & bloody.

The murder of JonBenét Ramsey is so tragically haunting. A little pageant doll broken & lifeless.

  4. Mary, the JonBenet Ramsey case is awfully tragic, and just so terribly sad and mysterious. I hope the family get answers in their lifetimes.

You've just reminded me of the Madeleine McCann case, although I have great hope she's still alive. It's amazing how these few cases receive worldwide coverage and so many remain unknown.

Jack the Ripper has almost become a legend on its own, with all the literature and theories surrounding his murders. I don't think we'll ever see a 'true crime' publication about the Ripper in our lifetimes.

Thanks for your true crime suggestions Mary.

  6. The Tamam Shud case is pretty interesting especially since it was in Australia. It has so little clues and to my inner skeptic it screams spy.

  7. Thanks Kelly, the Somerton Man case is a fascinating mystery. The way the tags on his clothes were removed really got me. Have you read Tamam Shud by Kerry Greenwood?

    (Thanks for your entry).

  8. Message from Michael from GoodReads says:
I would like to know who killed Melbourne woman Jane Thurgood-Dove. She was shot to death in her driveway infront of her three children in 1997. It was believed that her death was because of mistaken identity with the wife of a Melbourne underword figure living in the same street.

Her parents John and Helen hope to live to see her killers brought to justice. It was such a terrible incident and a frightening one that you can not be safe on you're own property.

  9. I was out of the country when this happened, so just read some more about it, so tragic, and in front of her children too. I can't fathom the evil in some people.

Let's hope this Australian case is solved. Thanks for your entry.
